Jenny,
How much hiking do you want to do? Distance? Elevation gain? Big panoramas? Waterfalls? Old growth forests? Four-thousand footers? The possibilities are endless. If you recall, I have posted many Catskill images. The Catskills are one of Monica's and my favorite places. I can suggest many places depending on your particular preferences. Also, Carolyn Summers lives in the southern Catskills. If she's still reading the emails, I'm sure she'll also make suggestions. ENTS, I am going to find a car, get in it and drive 2 hours to the Catskills. Weirdly, I don't know them very well. I've got great maps but just need some ideas of spots to visit. I have plenty of guide books too, but just wanted to check in here first before taking off. Alternatively I could visit the Shawangunks, which are to the south. I've been to the Hudson Highlands, Black Rock Forest, and to Harriman State Park, and Bear Mt. State Park so I wanted to go a little further afield. Any ideas come to mind? I'm sure I've seen recommendations before, by hopefully you won't mind writing again. Thanks! Jenny (and Thompson and Otto and Trina, my feathered dove patients, who will be joining me in the car and a motel! Although, they are slightly wary of going to a place called "Cat Skills". But I promised to bring lots of Roadrunner cartoons. As you can imagine, they love those.) -- Eastern Native Tree Society http://www.nativetreesociety.org Send email to [email protected] Visit this group at http://groups.google.com/group/entstrees?hl=en To unsubscribe send email to [email protected] -- Eastern Native Tree Society http://www.nativetreesociety.org Send email to [email protected] Visit this group at http://groups.google.com/group/entstrees?hl=en To unsubscribe send email to [email protected]
