ENTS, I don't really like the term Super Sites. I always think super with respect to what? and what do you mean by site? Generally in the usage we have been discussing here we have been referring to sites with exceptionally large trees of a single species, or trees of a large size in general. Really it could referee to a site in which trees were exceptional in many other ways. Say a species like cucumbertree was uncommon in the forest in a region. A location in which had numerous cucumber trees or was dominated by cucumbertrees could reasonable be considered a supersite with respect to cucumbertree. Similarly a someplace could be considered a Super Site with respect to species diversity, or with respect to great age, or a variety of other parameters. So I guess I don't like the term because it could be applied reasonably to such a variety of situations.
I am just rambling now, because I got up too early today.
