A Finnish oak aficionado Juha Fagerholm says the oak could be a
Mexican species: Loquat-Leaf Oak, Q. rhysophylla (also the form Q.
rysophylla is used). It is used as an ornamental also in Europe, e.g.
in British Isles. Other similar Mexican species are much rarer in
cultivation. Juha said also that the Asian oaks, which have
approximately similar leaves, mostly have leaf undersides densely
yellowish woolly (groups Cerris and Brachylepides).
