oops... here's the data....
Some of you (Jess Riddle in particular) may know about the 67 acre parcel of old growth in the city limits of Atlanta known as Fernbank Forest. I happen to work at Fernbank Museum and have had the opportunity to do more exploring in our forest as of late with my newly acquired laser rangefinder. Here's brief report from my 7 hour excursion last friday and note that all height measurements are NLT from laser shots straight up into the canopy for this preliminary forest trip: Liriodendron tulipifera 153' Liriodendron tulipifera 151.5' x 10.5' CBH Liriodendron tulipifera 150' x 11.0' Liriodendron tulipifera 144' x 12.3' Liriodendron tulipifera 142.5 x 12.9' Liriodendron tulipifera 138' x 13' Liriodendron tulipifera 144' x 13.75' Fraxinus americana 116' x 8.75' Acer saccharinum 100' x 14.8' CBH (2 trunks?)
