I know of a great place to hold a festival, Robinson State Park in Agawam, MA.
There is champion tulip tree and tulip grove, many other types of trees, alot
of trails for hiking to the trees, alot of parking, canoe and kayak launch on
the Westfield River, swimming pool, picnic tables, mountain bike trails, The
Friends of Robinson State Park group, geocaches, close to hotels, major
highways plus Bob and others have already held tree measuring hikes here. Sam

John, Bob, You know that would be cool, to have a tree, nature,
art festival. We could have display booths with T-shirts, hats, books,
old growth info, whats going on with our Forests, young trees, etc.
ENTS has many talented and diverse folks, I think it would be a great
thing. Some could lecture, others demonstrate climbing
technics, measuing technics, etc. Perhaps a new movement for renewal,
green space, etc. We could have each annual festival in a different
region, one in the northeast, one in the southeast, etc. The problem
would be the logistics of such an event and where when to have it. We
have some great speakers and we could reach many children with
something like that. I know in years past some schools were teaching
children more about nature. I'm going to ask some friends who have
younger children what they are teaching them now about nature. Just my
thoughts. Larry
