Don't try to pull that one ... I thought of that scam first.
That is one hell of a price for that lens.
External condition? Personally I don't take any care ... if it is a
choice between scratching the paint and getting the shot I try to
remember what it was I bought the lens for ;o)
Besides, it makes you look more like a pro if your lenses are tatty.
