Hi Rodrigo ,

This is not what I was doing. When the speedlite was
mounted on the camera bodies, there was NO FEC set on
either body. I know about FEC on the flash taking
precedence over FEC on the body when both are set. I
double checked and nether body had FEC set. When I
tried to set FEC on the SPEEDLITE it went in 1/2 stop
increments on the SPEEDLITE. This was the case
whether the speedlite was mounted on a body or not.

To get it back to 1/3 stop increments I had to remove
the batteries for 5 minutes to "clear" the memory,
because it was remembering the 1/2 stop settings even
when not mounted on a camera. Once I'd done this it
reverted to 1/3 stop increments when I set it on the
speedlite (not on a camera). When mounted on a
camera, it continued using 1/3 stop settings, like my
540EZ did (like I originally expected). Since then it
seems like it's going to stay with 1/3 stop settings.

If I want 1/2 stop FEC settings I can set them on the
camera body. If I want 1/3 stop settings (my usual
preference) I set them on the speedlite. I like this
arrangement, it's easier to set it on the speedlite
than on the body, and the speedlite is now using my
preferred increment.

I think the behaviour of the increments somewhat
bizarre (check my original post). The first time it
was mounted on a camera it picked 1/2 stop increments,
and nothing could persuade it otherwise. Remove the
batteries and try FEC while NOT mounted and it goes
back the 1/3 stop increments I expected. Strange.

Regards
Gary Fisher
