Hi JDW,

You made an interesting point about the 500D (+2 diopter) and 250D (+4
diopter) close-up adapter lenses.

I have limited experience in macro photography. I recently bought a 250D
in 72mm mount that I use for the 28-135mm IS and the 100-400mm IS.

There is a severe problem with the 28-135 and 250D: the 250D is quite a
heavy accessory, and with the lens pointed down, the zoom barrel creeps to
the longest setting. @#(&$@(^! There is no zoom lock, like on the
100-400.

Is the 500D any lighter?

Cheers
