The answer to that question depends upon which you consider to be more
important as a photographer:

1. The ability to skillfully operate camera equipment to its' fullest
potential, or
2. The ability to arrange the best composition in a given situation.

I once saw Roy Clark and Chet Atkins performing together in a somewhat
competitive environment, and Chet could play anything that Roy could dream
up, but I think Roy was having a better time. To me, Chet was the
technician, Roy the artist.

So is photography an art or a science? I think we each have our opinions.
