I unwrapped my new 100-300 L yesterday. Now is a great time to buy because
the price has really dropped recently. Adorama has them for $329 US and B&H
has them for $349 US ($329 grey). If it ever quits raining here I will use
it this weekend and let you know what I think. I sold my 100-300 USM last
week because I just wasn't happy with the image sharpness. Some have stated
that the focus was very slow on the L. I played with the L this morning and
found the focus to be slower than the USM, but not so slow as to be
unusable. It seemed to focus pretty fast for me. I need a sharper lens in
this focal range that I can hike with, and hopefully the 100-300 L will fit
the bill.
