I am currently looking to buy a 70-200 2.8L, based on the primarily
favorable reviews recently on the list. I am also debating between the 1.4x
and the 2x converters.
The EOS-3 is supposed to auto focus to f8. The 1.4x loses 1 stop which
would reduce f2.8 lens to f4. The 2x would reduce to f.56. I have tried my
EOS-3 with the 70-200 and the 1.4x converter, and found the auto focus to
work fine.
I to would be interested in others experiences/opinions on the combining the
70-200 with either converter. I would be primarily using this combination
to shoot motorcycle road racing, as well as other commercial projects where
the subjects are moving quickly.

>Hi,
>I'm thinking of buying a teleconverter to use with my 70-200/2.8 USM. My
first doubt is, will the 1.4X or the 2.0X extender maintain auto focus?
Secondly, looking at a B&H ad, I found the Canon 2.0X extender to be cheaper
than the 1.4X one. Can anyone give me a clue here? I'll be using the
lens+converter combo with a EOS3 body?
Thanks in advance,
Fabiano.
