I don't believe this is a date code. It's just the serial number. Many of
the newer consumer lenses do not have date codes. The only consumer lens
that I have seen with a date code is an older 50/1.8 Mk1 and maybe an old
70-210/4 that I used to own. My 28-135 has no code, and neither did the
28-105 that I had before.
