Hi
I own the EF 28-135 IS zoom but find the f3.5-5.6 max aperture
often limiting (I was used to primes in my pre-EOS times).
Even daytime outdoors this time a year with ISO100 film I need to
use 1/30..1/60 shutter speeds with my f2.0 and f1.8 primes so
the zoom is out of question when photographing any moving objects
without a flash.
So I've been thinking of buying a 28-70(80)/2.8 zoom but I'm not
sure if I would still need the 28-135 for the times there is more
light.
Since money is an issue I have couple options (in my preference
order):
1) Buy Sigma or Tokina 28-xx/2.8 and keep the EF28-135,
2) buy Sigma or Tokina 28-xx/2.8 and sell the EF28-135,
3) buy Canon EF28-70/2.8L and sell the EF28-135.
Somehow I wouldn't like to sell the 28-135 because it is lighter
(than at least the Canon 28-70/2.8L) and has more reach which I
often find useful.
I have also the EF 100/2 which I could use with the 28-70 when I'm
able to have some additional lenses with me.
Any user experience & comments? Thanks.
Vesa
PS. What is the difference between the older (current?) Sigma EX and the
new DF version. Anything more than marketing "bullshoes"?
PPS. Is there any consensus about the quality order of the non-Canon
28-x0/2.8 zooms (optically, mechanically, focusing, compatibility,
etc.).
