I have the 28-105 and picked up the 28-70 2.8L this summer. I LOVE this lens. Yes,
it is short on the long end and not short enough on the short end. But, the image
quality makes it all okay. I'll just step forward or back a bit as I need. I will
never give up this lens.
>>> Since money is an issue I have couple options (in my preference
>>> order):
>>> 1) Buy Sigma or Tokina 28-xx/2.8 and keep the EF28-135,
>>> 2) buy Sigma or Tokina 28-xx/2.8 and sell the EF28-135,
>>> 3) buy Canon EF28-70/2.8L and sell the EF28-135.
I would get the Canon, it will hold it's value. Just look at used prices on e-Bay or
at KEH camera Brokers. I'll be tthe off brand lenses don't stand up to the quality or
resale value. I kept my 28-105 because it is light and when I go on a trip I can use
it for snap shots. The 28-70L is big and heavy! You will not regret spending th
money. If you have to wait and save, wait and save!!
The only probelm with getting the 28-70 2.8L is that you will hunger for more 'L'
lenses. I picked up the 70-200 2.8L a few months later. People told me that I would
do that but I said, "There is no way I can afford two 'L' lenses in one year!" But
after I was exposed to the 'L Fever', I found a way to afford it!!!
Have fun!
John
