<< Hi list,

I bought EF300/4L lens couple days ago and after careful inspection of the
glass I noticed a layer of extremely fine dust on one of the elements. It
also could be a rest of the cleaning before the lens assembly, because it
might resemble a cleaning liquid which was not properly polished. Well,
perhaps this does not affect the quality of the picture, but it bother me
slightly, since I expected that "L" stands for luxury.
 Does anyone have similar problem?
Does Canon warranty cover the lens cleaning? If not, any idea how much
 this would cost me?
 Thank you for your replays,

Hi Pavol,
Did you ever hear people say "If it ain't broke - don't fix it" ?
Well, I think it may apply here - if your lens produces fine images and works
well mechanically - don't look for problems. As good as Canon is - there too
many stories where lenses went to Canon for cleaning and after they came back
images produced by them were softer and less contrasty. It may not happen,
and many people get good results after cleaning too, but like I said - if it
works fine now - I wouldn't worry about it. So, I'd say shoot a few rills of
slides with it - see how they come out and then decide if you want to have it
cleaned.
