But you probably would not buy an IX or IX Lite, which
underscores my point... why put an advanced feature
like this on an APS camera, and deprive more serious
amateurs of this functionality? 

Granted, it's easier to do on APS because of the
magnetic layer which is already there to hold the
info. But it reinforces my perception that APS is
poorly thought out product that tries to be a lot of
things to a lot of people, but satisfies no one? :-(

Why not develop existing 35mm to have the same
features?
