Velvia is

Velvia really is ISO 50 ... it's just that for average scenes it
produces better results if metered as if it is ISO 32-40. Because it
stretches the contrast (higher film gamma) compared to say Sensia
choice of exposure really needs to take into account the suject.
If you shoot white subjects metering correctly (off grey card) for ISO
32 they will be totally blown out. OTOH blackbirds and darker animals
will do just fine.
