Actually, I like the effect of a polarizer on a 20mm when the sun is
directly overhead and the dark band of sky runs along the horizon. Gives a
nice gradation to what might otherwise be a featureless sky. Also, don't
forget that while the maximum effect is at 90 degrees from the sun, there is
still an effect (although reduced) at lesser angles.
