I can't help you out in Finland, but I can share my US experience. I've
been meaning to pass this on and this is a good reminder for me.
I just got a "personal articles floater" (which is an add-on to my
homeowner's insurance) to cover my entire bag of EOS stuff. This
additional policy insures me against my two greatest fears:
* Having my bag stolen (especially from my car.)
* Dropping my camera and destroying an L lens.
All in all, I am happy that I got a policy. The purchase cost of my EOS
stuff is just under $4,000 and the policy will cost me $71.00 per year (I
got it from USAA) That's pretty good peace of mind for me.
As an aside, when I made up a spreadsheet of the cost of my gear, I was
surprised to see that I was almost four grand, seems all those filters,
remotes, accessories, etc. really add up. I bet if you inventory your bag
(remember to include the bag itself) you might be surprised, too.

PS: Please, don't tell my wife how much I have "invested" in my gear! ;-)
PPS: My camera stuff is for personal use. They won't write this kind of
policy if you are a pro -- you'll probably have to get business insurance
for that.

Hi,
This is an off-topic post. I want to insure my camera equipment and I live
in Helsinki, Finland.
I don't have much of an idea about which insurance companies would be best
for me, and what should I go about doing for getting my camera equipment
insured, here in Helsinki. I've read the photo.net articles on camera
insurance though.
I don't do any professional stuff with my camera, I haven't earned anything
out of it.
Its just that I want to protect the investment that I have made into my
equipment.
