Hi Karen,
Keep in mind, that at 1:1, using one of the tubes brighter than the
other, the ringlight does amount off axis lighting and will cast
distinct shadows. The light is only about 5 inches from your subject at
this magnification and will produce a farly 3d image by my estimation
(not experience, unfortunately). Otherwise, you could always use the
550 EX (maybe with a small softbox) as a side light (for subject and
background) then use the ringlight as a fill to keep the shadows open.
