EOS Second-Curtain Flash - Disadvantages?

As I've already stated, second-curtain flash on the new EOS Elan 7E doesn't 
disable the Red-Eye light, so is there a disadvantage of setting 
second-curtain sync on the built-in flash?

Do I lose flash power or anything else?
