At the risk of starting another "if you could only have one focal length"
thread, I would suggest that many people consider the most natural focal length
to be equal to the diagonal of the frame. This works out to about 43mm for
35mm cameras. Personally, I probably use my 50/1.4 more than any other lens,
but if I could have only one, I'd take the 35/2 (you can always crop
afterwards!).
