Go with the zoom. The one thing you're always lacking at a wedding is time.
After shooting the various members of the wedding party coming up the aisle,
you really don't want to be changing lenses to shoot the couple at the
altar.

I'm tempted to suggest the 28-135 3.5-5.6 IS; 5.6 is pretty slow. The ideal
lens would be someting like a 28-135 f2; until that comes along, the 28-70
should do the job. If you have a second body, a 100 f2 or 135 f2 would be
nice.
