Andy,
I too am not ready to move to medium format for weddings. I opted for the 28-70 2.8L
and I LOVE this lens for candids. It is a little short for portraits. Later in the
summer I picked up the 70-200 2.8L and it is simply amazing for portraits. You can
not go wrong with these lenses.
I was truly amazed at the sharpness in both of these lenses. I could immediately see
sharper images in my 4x6 proofs. I have not blown anything up more than 11x14 but
these look amazing for 35mm film.
With that in mind I have kind of decided, why get a medium format for only 20-30
images a wedding? People have been very satisfied with the results from these lenses.
Have fun!
John
