Hi,
 I am not surprised. I am disgusted with the performance of the 28-135 IS in 
both sharpness and contrast. I have an old 28-80 3.5-xx Vers 1 that is 
noticeably superior in a 3.5 x 5 snap.
You don't always get what you pay for!
