Thanks for the input.

Part of the reason that my shots don't have a really crisp DOF is
that our seats are up 20 rows or so in the Arena. I'm just a piker
(read: amateur) so I don't have a press pass or anything. Shooting
with a 200/2.8 (as these two shots were) or my 300/2.8 (which is too
big for me to schlep along with my kids' things, etc) from courtside
(or rinkside) would be another matter altogether. You'll get very
punchy results in that case.

However, the autofocus is an issue. There are a great many shots that
were disappointingly out of focus, even with the greater DOF afforded
by my distance from the court. I shot a few sequences with the film
advance set for "as fast as it'll go", but I wasn't too impressed
with the results (more a function of my ineptitude than the camera's).

Metering isn't an issue as I set the camera to full manual metering
(1/500 at f2.8).

All this said, I'd like to compare my results with my EOS 3 body and
the same lenses. However, I have not as yet done that, as I haven't
had the opportunity to bring that much gear to a game yet.
