The statement in parentheses (Automatic selection with the <focus point
selection> button) means that when you depress the focus point selection
button, the camera will automatically select a focus point based on the
nearest object. So, as long as your QCD is switched on and you're in a
Creative Zone mode, I don't know why the directional buttons on the QCD
aren't working for you when you have C.Fn. 11 set on 1.
