While I can not specifically address the grey market issue, I did
receive remarkably good service from Canon Canada for an EOS 3 I
purchased, used, off ebay. The camera was supposedly a few months old
but I had no proof of purchase. It was killing the batteries when left
coupled to my EF300 2.8L IS. A firmware update was required to fix this
problem. I contacted Canon Canada, hoping they would service the camera.
I fully expected to pay for this but they did it free! I thought this
"above and beyond" what was required.
My understanding is Canon does not apply the same kind of draconian
tactics wrt grey market items as does Nikon USA but I have no experience
or facts on this matter.
