I think that depends on what you want it to do. I got an Elan 7
kitted with a 28-90, and it's capable of some very nice work. I can
send you scans if you like. It is not of the solidest conctruction
in the world, but it is nice and light. Focusing is very fast,
positive and silent even in fading light. I am planning on replacing
it in the future with L glass, because I'm a perfectionist at heart,
and I've had "heavy glass" before, but it is good enough that I don't
feel in a hurry, I can take my time and really get to know my focal
length patterns and make an intelligent choice.
