And if the digital viewfinder is good enough then Canon could
design rangefinder type lenses with small lens-to-film distance
(whatever they are called) for digital EOSes.
My understanding is that this would allow designers to get
better optical quality at least in the wide angle lenses,
compared to current "reversed telephoto" ??? type design.
Thus:
- Lock mirror up before fitting a lens (user can fit a lens
before lifting the mirror but the camera won't fire in that
case since there is not enough space for the mirror to move).
- look through the digital viewfinder and compose your shot
- shoot
Maybe a small mirror for AF would be needed though since the
digital viewfinders in general are not very well suited for
manual focusing.
