I thought my RT would help me with panning shots too - however most of the
panning shots I shoot are of cars at (at the slowest) 1/30. Even at this
speed, the veiwfinder is blacked out for such a short amount of time that it
makes no difference if you can see the car or not - you just need to make
sure you panning speed is matched to the car speed before pressing the
shutter. OR even take a sequence of shots. Having the RT hasn't made
panning any easier - infact it's almost been harder since I seem to hold the
RT on an angle (ie. not completly level) where all my panning shots on the 3
were much better.
Try panning using a manual focus medium format camera! A tripod is
essential..
