Hello there,
Just been testing out my new D30. Thought I was going to be a Luddite
over digital technology, but am fast being converted.
My question regards flash. When using the D30 and 550EX, I have mostly
had it set on centre weighted metering (*). 90% of the time this works fine,
but if I focus on a person to one side of the frame it does have a tendancy
to bleach out the skin tones. Does anyone have any tips for this problem,
bar manually dialing down the flash by a stop or two? Would using one of the
other metering modes be better suited to the job? Or, if I use the centre
focusing point to focus on a face and then recompose - will the camera
remember to expose the flash for the skin or will it look at what is now at
the centre of the re-composed image?
I guess I've been spoiled by the linking of flash metering to the
selected focus spot in my Eos 3!
