My current budget will allow me to acquire a new lens in the near
future and this lens with a 2x converter would cover about 95%
of my photographic endeavors. This would be used on a first generation
EOS Elan, soon to be replaced with the Elan 7e.
 Thanks for your comments,

Hi Mike,
I used to have this lens - Tokina 80-200 2.8 AT-X pro. It was very good
optically and great built. One thing about it - AF is a bit loud and somewhat
slow. I replaced it with Canon 80-200L and while I got a better AF speed,
optically I think Tokina was as good. There was a rumor that They are
supposed to come up with a new version - with AF system like in their new
28-80 2.8 (which I have) where AF is much faster and focus clutch is better
designed. But I' can't confirm it. Anyway - if you need it for optics - it's
great, if for AF speed - like for sports - I's say go with Canon or Sigma
HTM.
