Henry, this is EXACTLY the setup they all had -- the D1 with a Viao slung
around their waist. I did not realize those VIAOs were part of the system.

Nikon showed a prototype of a semi-wireless hookup for the D1. They had a
D1 attached via FireWire to a Sony Vaio laptop. The laptop had a Lucent
WaveLAN card which sent the image across the room to a computer equipped
with Nikon Capture software. When perfected, this will let studio users and
others capture very large files or large quantities of smaller files
without worrying about the size of the Compact Flash card in the camera.
