Maybe I am just being too picky here--I mean, it is a zoom lens after
all. I suppose the focusing group has to have a little play in order
to focus quickly. If it were absolutely tight, the ultrasonic motor
wouldn't produce enough torque to move the glass. Its not like I can
actually see the barrel wobble inside. I think its just noisier
cause the metal construction doesn't damp the sound as well as
plastic barrels on my cheaper lenses. Also, its not a huge rattle--
you can just here the glass moving iside a bit. For those who own
this lens, if you hold the lens by itself and turn it in a circle can
you hear some noise, or is it absolutely silent? My fixed lenses
don't make much noise, but this is a zoom after all. My 75-300 has
so much play when zoomed to 200, that I think it would make quite a
racket if it were made out of metal. Am I just being anal about this
whole thing?
