No, you didn't, but I think it could be interpreted from your statement "it

At least it gives the theoretical limit of what a lens is capable of.
I still don't think it is a worse representation than giving the practical
results for a single lens on a single day.

I think we are basically in agreement here, and if there really is a
difference in performance, I think it would probably be barely noticeable in
real world application. I think the non-IS is a very good lens and provides
very good value for money, but the IS version is definitely more useful IMO
and worth saving a bit extra for.
