I mistakenly posted "Ec-N" rather than "Ec-D" in an earlier post on this
topic. I apologize for the error and hope it didn't contribute to your
confusion. The Ec-D is the grid screen, and it is a bit darker. That is the
screen that I and several other posters have permanently put into our
cameras.

calibrated scale screen:

both of these are about one-half stop darker than the standard-issue Ec-N.
