Hello there:
I just rented an EF 300/2.8L IS USM lens in order to shoot a friend's judo
tournament. I needed the extra focal length since I'll have to shoot from the
seats and the faster glass since it'll probably will not be well lit. (I plan
on using Fuji Press 800 normally rated and/or pushed +1 and/or Kodak T-Max
3200)
The question I have is that when I started to play with the lens and attached
either my 1.4X or 2.0X teleconverter, my EOS-3 seems to "hunt" quite a lot
before achieving focus. (and yes, I had the focusing limiters set
correctly...)
Just to check I tried to focus with the same camera, the same target and in
the same light with my 70-200/2.8L and the same (my) converters. The
70-200/2.8L seems to "snap" into focus a lot faster.
To be honest, I have never shot with a 300/2.8L (IS or not) and therefore I
don't know if this is normal and the 70-200/2.8L should focus a lot faster
(less glass to move?) or if there is something that I am missing...
BTW, I did not get an instructions manual with the lens and if I remember
previous posts correctly IS mode 1 is for normal IS utilization and IS mode 2
is for use when the lens is either being panned and/or on a tripod.
Is this correct?
Thank you in advance...
Regards
