Yes, all EOS items are much more expensive in Japan than in the States.
Although I got my EF 20-35 lens for about the same price I would have paid
in Canada. There are lots of small accessories and goodies here though you
won't find anywhere else, sometimes at a bargain. But I would not suggest
holding out to get a camera or lens here.
You might pick up something used though, there's lots of used lenses and
bodies around. Sometimes reasonable, usually overpriced. Still, you'll have
fun looking...
