I once had a friend lend me his 300 mm f/4.0 lens -- I was considering
buying it, and wanted to try it out first. He was there (it was a hockey
game, and I think he was more intent on watching the game), but don't think
he was watching me too closely, but he knows how I am with my own equipment.
(And yes, I did end up buying the lens from him!)
I was speaking with the local hockey team's official photographer before a
game and asked him if he would again be team photographer for the arena
football team that plays in the same building. He said no, the team decided
to go with someone local. However, the other photographer did not have
strobes, and the building is relatively dark, especially with the green
football turf vs. the white ice. The other photographer asked him if he
could "borrow" his strobes since they were already set up. Bill was like,
"Sure, you want to 'borrow' my wallet, too?!?" Bill then deactivated his
strobes after the game to make sure the other guy didn't "borrow" them
anyway. Can't say that I blame him.
