There are multiple chips out there that are bigger
then 24x36 and have 8-16MPixel. So far these chips
have been mainly used in the industry, medicine, etc
which is why most of them are monochrom. So I don't
really see any reason why these (or modified) chips
should not finally make it into professional digital
cameras. Such a camera is probably more in the range
of 8k but considering that it could replace some of
the even more expensive studio cameras it's not that
bad. Plus if you need something cheaper you have the
D30. Maybe the rumor is not true but it sure doesn't
sound impossible.
