Basically there are two pro-caliber chips in use today.
Phillips makes a 6 megapixel 24mm x 36mm CCD
CreoScitex has announced a 6 megapixel 24mm x 36mm CMOS (C-MOST)
There are quite a few cameras built around the Phillips chip, including
the Leaf Volare & Cantare series.
I don't believe any cameras have been sold yet, based around the C-MOST chip.
I don't know what chip Contax is planning to use in their promised N-1.
It might be the CreoScitex C-MOST, but I don't know for sure.
The Phillips chip is very expensive $1,400, in quantity, for a bare
chip, no camera and there are some thickness issues that seem to prevent
it from being used in a 35mm camera.
