It is a studio camera so far, not a portable 
SLR replacing conventional SLRs.

It would be wrong. If it is for absolute quality 
there is no way around CCDs, but there is also no 
way around bulky equipment and active cooling.

For astronomic applications there are still 
worlds between CMOS and CCD.

No, price is the only reason. CMOS is good enough
(stunningly good, that is), but no match for cooled 
CCDs.
