You should try the home owner insurance depending how much the repair cost
is.
The home insurance typically will cover very strange things, items in a car
that is not usually in the car is one of them even though the items were in
the car when the mishap occurred.
I had CDs, tools etc. stolen out of my car, home insurance covered it. A
friend had his leather jacket stolen out of his Jeep, home insurance covered
it too.
