I have only noticed a slight reduction in autofocus speed, but even in average light you can hardly tell. Also the accuracy does not suffer, I can still 'snap' onto a distant twig (for example) no problem. I was tracking ducks and a heron at a local lake the other week, it never lost focus. This is using the central focusing point and either one shot or AI servo.
