Hi,
I'll be making a trip to Boston for a conference end of next month. This is
my first time to the east coast of US and I might make a trip to New York
City as well to take a look around.
I found a few newsgroup and forum postings about photography in these
cities. The issue involves using tripods in public places and obtaining
permits to take photographs (with tripod). They seem to discourage
commercial photography of buildings and momuments. However, I'm going to be
taking "tourist" photographs, but I'm afraid that my Manfrotto and my EOS 30
(Elan 7E) combination might look like a pro/commercial photography
equipment.
Secondly, I've fallen into the trap of having too many lenses, and I don't
want to lug all of them on my trip. I'm trying to balance between
performance (low light photography within buildings) and weight. I have the
choice of 50mm f/1.8, Canon's 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5, Sigma's 28-135 f/3.8-5.6
and Sigma's 20mm f/1.8. If I bring all of them along, it is likely that I'll
be stuck with indecisiveness which lens I should bring with me. Do you have
any good suggestions?
