I use the 50/1,4 for some months now for available light and also a "normal"
lens.

I love it. For available light it's a winner, and allow me to take shots
where I can't do anything with a "normal" lens which open at 2,8 ! It's
really impressive to take available light shots, playing with DoF. It's
really just great.

About the focal lenght nobody else you can answer your question. You say ".
i need a faster lens to use for available light photography." Determine
what kind of photography you want to make. But perhaps with some infos we
can help you much more :)

You'll see, having such a lens is simply great and open a wide range of
_new_ possibilities ! ;))
