  Well, that's what I meant. By putting it in the sprocket line of the 
film path as it passes under the pressure plate you've basically 
stuck it fairly close to the shutter. :)

  Yes. Like your 1000FN, I can confirm that the Rebel II S I looked at 
in the store has the pressure plate hole. I also noticed that it 
looked like a kind of spring-loaded plate. Perhaps the pressure plate 
off an Elan (which doesn't have a hole) or something would be 
compatible.
