Here are some comparative figures for eye relief:
Canon EOS Elan 7: 19.5 mm
Canon EOS 3: 19.5 mm
Canon EOS 1v: 20 mm
Nikon F5: 20.5 mm
So the 1v does indeed provide .5 mm more eye relief than the 3. What
I find interesting, however, is that (as an eyeglass wearer also) the
viewfinder in the Elan 7 _appears_ to have greater eye relief to me,
as all the information is centered at the bottom of the finder, so I
don't have to go hunting for the exposure scale along the right side
(which I find I have to do even on the 1v). I know it shortens the
scale, but I wish the 1v had this same layout.
