I purchased a pair of EOS3's back in March. At the time I had read a couple
of posts about the underexposure problem but had discounted them since they
were old and more recent posts said the problems had been corrected.
But I noticed that my shots were coming out darker than expected. I decided
to send one of the 3's off to Canon factory service to have the v1.7 (CF-19)
upgrade. When the camera came back with the new upgrade I compared spot
meterings from the two cameras. The 'new' camera consistently gave me a
reading that was 2/3 of a stop greater in exposure than the 'old' camera.
I sent the second camera off to Canon. Now both meters match exactly and my
images are more in line with what I expect.
The upgrades were completed quickly, turnaround to Canon in NJ and back to
me in MD took about a week and a half.
Joe.
